After Brexit your Pharmacist’s degree can be recognised automatically for registration:

as long as it is a Relevant European Qualification. If not, then you should likely follow the non-EEA route provided by the regulators.

Pharmacy Technicians and pharmacies (drug stores) also have to be registered as above.

If you are already registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and wish to now work in Northern Ireland, you still have to register with the PSNI.

Both regulators require evidence of your English language skills. For the vast majority of applications, this means that you have to achieve a minimum score in an acceptable English language test before you apply for registration.

Five reasons to choose UK Pharmacist Registration with a Relevant European Qualification by UKmed

For your peace of mind, our UK Pharmacist Registration with an REQ service is all-inclusive, to help you start working and earning sooner. We will:

  • obtain all the required documents for you, including certificates of current professional status from every European country you are registered in
  • translate the right documents and have them certified correctly
  • deal with the bureaucracy, to save you time, money and energy
  • manage the whole two-stage registration process to avoid errors and delays
  • help you set up your myGPhC online account correctly. This is important since you must use myGPhC in order to revalidate and maintain your registration. If you aim for PSNI registration, then we will advise you on how to comply with Northern Ireland’s registration retention requirements.

How much is the annual fee for registered Pharmacists in the UK?

Check out the annual retention fees for Pharmacists in England, Scotland and Wales and Northern Ireland.

Please note that PSNI also charges a one-off fee to process your registration application.

Is GPhC/PSNI registration enough to practise as a Pharmacist in the UK?

Yes, if you intend to practise as an NHS or employed Pharmacist. But not if you intend to work in your fully or partly owned pharmacy. In the latter case, your pharmacy premises have to be registered, too. Pharmacy registration is a separate process, not to be confused with Pharmacist registration.

I was registered in the past and only need GPhC/PSNI restoration.

In our experience, the restoration process could be harder and take longer than your original GPhC/PSNI registration. You will need to prove that since you left the register you kept up with your respecive regulator’s revalidation/CPD requirements for retaining registration in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

It’s worth contacting us and obtaining Career Advice before you start planning. We can help you prepare for successful retention.
