Too many Dentists spend money and time to obtain UK registration, only to then lose it or not use it.

If you don’t want to be one of them, our StayOK for GDC service is for you.

Three reasons to choose StayOK for GDC by UKmed

  • Targeted career advice before making decisions that may affect your career.
  • A Professional Development Plan (PDP) tailored to your own needs.
  • Year-long logging of your CPD, and a timely submission to the GDC every year.

The GDC’s annual renewal requirements

As a dentist, you need to maintain your GDC (General Dental Council) registration year on year.

That means you must meet certain conditions throughout the year.

One of those is to keep an up-to-date PDP (Personal Development Plan). The GDC could actually ask to see it.

Utilise UKmed’s expertise and lead coach to produce a PDP that is topical, compliant and actually useful.

The GDC’s Enhanced CPD requirements

Another crucial requirement to keep your Dentist’s registration in the UK is to complete a minimum number of CPD hours every five years. This is currently set to 100 (one hundred) hours’ worth of CPD attendance.

Of those five years, you have to complete at least 10 hours every two consecutive years.

Finally, and most importantly, your attendance certificates must show that the CPD event you attended met the GDC’s quality criteria. One of these is that your CPD event must have at least one of four GDC domains explicitly associated with it. There are other requirements, too.

When is it a good time to start?

Right now.

One of the most common problems dentists face – especially those based outside the UK – is leaving their CPD annual declaration too late, and having to scramble to find enough hours to scrape through.

Good practice, however, dictates that you should make a PDP (plan) at the start of the year for the next 12-18 months roughly, then stick to it by attending well-picked CPD and recording it in good time.

That’s what UKmed specialises in. We first listen, then we advise you based on your aspirations and needs, and finally we monitor and remind you of your outstanding items at regular intervals during the year. That way you can be sure you will be compliant with the GDC’s requirements.
